About I-CEE Center

Since the 1990s, the pattern of international investment has been profoundly adjusted and the outbound investment of enterprises in emerging economies has increased significantly. Enterprises from all over the world, represented by China, are actively expanding overseas and seeking new opportunities. In the future, with the increasing internationalization of emerging market economies, there will be massive opportunities for growth in the outbound investment of enterprises from these countries.

In this context, the Research Center for the Internationalization of Companies from Emerging Economies (I-CEE Center) was established in March 2021 to focus on the formulation of internationalization strategies and overseas operations of enterprises in emerging economies. The Center has carried out extensive exchanges and cooperation with outstanding scholars from all over the world and carried out projects such as case collection, case competitions, seminars, school-enterprise cooperation, and joint curriculum construction. The Center is committed to supporting research on companies in emerging economies and helping companies and policymakers to better understand the topic, thereby contributing to the successful implementation of internationalization strategies.

By the establishment of the Center, we hope to provide academic support for the formulation of internationalization strategies and overseas operations of enterprises in emerging economies, effectively help to improve the scientific research of the Center, further strengthen academic research and cultural exchanges with international partners, expand the global layout, and expand the international influence of the Center and the university. At the same time, as a think tank, the Center serves the national strategies for the internationalization of Chinese-funded enterprises. The following is a brief introduction of major project of I-CEE Center, we welcome the participation of all interested universities and individuals.

I-CEE Student Case Contest

The I-CEE Student Case Contest is organized annually, providing students with a good opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to analyzing real business issues. The competition is aimed at establishing international connections and promoting exchanges. Students will cooperate with peers from all over the world.

Case Topic

Any business topic that involves a company from an emerging economy doing international business in another country.

Regulation

Students shall participate in teams of two to five members from at least two countries or two different universities, the I-CEE Center’s Research Collaboration Platform can help teams to find international teammates upon request.

Awards

The winner can choose one of the following three awards:

A. Scholarship, or B. Subsidy for IBS.BFSU summer camp

In addition, the winners will receive a certificate and a potential opportunity to publish their winning cases. For students enrolled in IBS, they will receive extra points in the comprehensive evaluation (applicable to both Chinese and international students).

Research Cooperation Platform

The I-CEE Center recognizes the importance of partnering with colleges, universities, research institutions, government agencies, and companies to connect academia and businesses. This will ultimately enrich both students and executives alike. To facilitate the cooperation, the I-CEE Center has developed the Research Cooperation Platform. The platform aims to encourage broader and deeper cooperation among international partners. Interested universities and institutions are welcome to join the platform as standing members.
